Our work is not done yet, so to all of the passionate volunteers who have been collecting signatures throughout the state: Keep it up!!! And if you want to join the efforts, please do so. It can be as easy as printing the petitions and asking a few friends to sign. Or maybe you want to volunteer at one of the recall stations. There are opportunities for everyone!
One activist, who blogs under the name BattiestGrrl, has set a personal goal of collecting 1,000 signatures. She hits the streets of Oshkosh to collect signatures whenever she can, and updates her blog to let us all know how her efforts are going. BattiestGrrl has even recruited a few friends who are also aiming to complete the “1,000 Signature Recall Challenge”.
Margaret from Madison wrote about her experience collecting signatures near her family’s cabin in southwest Wisconsin. She received overwhelmingly positive responses from most of the people she talked to. Her neighbors are concerned about Walker’s cuts to education and health care, and the new law that makes it harder to vote.
Awesome volunteers like BattiestGrrl and Margaret are the reason that the recall drive has gotten off to such a fast start. Keep up the hard work, and stay tuned to the United Wisconsin blog for more stories about the passionate people who are braving the Wisconsin winter to recall Scott Walker.
